Enrolled In a POS Medical Option? Use In-Network Providers (It Will Save You Money)

Under Alcatel-Lucent’s Aetna and UnitedHealthcare Point of Service (POS) medical options, you will pay less when you use in-network doctors and hospitals. If you use doctors and hospitals outside your carrier’s network, you will pay a higher share of the cost.

The medical carriers, Aetna and UnitedHealthcare, have thousands of doctors and hospitals in their networks. While the networks are robust, the carriers are selective about which providers they allow in their networks. They choose the doctors and hospitals based on their stringent service quality ratings and then negotiate rates to save you and Alcatel-Lucent money. If you are in the Aetna or UnitedHealthcare POS option, you can use your member Web site to find in-network providers.

Use the information below when you are looking for an in-network POS provider on the Aetna or UnitedHealthcare Web site and prompted to select a plan (remember — you can also find in-network providers using the Your Benefits Resources [YBR] Web site):

  • Aetna: On www.aetna.com, choose “Aetna Choice POS II (Open Access)” under “Aetna Open Access Plans”
  • UnitedHealthcare: On www.myuhc.com, choose “UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus”
