Update: The Dependent Verification Is Closed

The Alcatel-Lucent Dependent Verification period closed on Friday, May 30, 2008.

We appreciate your participation in this important process. As a result of the verification period, over 2,500 ineligible dependents have been voluntarily dropped from coverage — saving the company millions of dollars in health care costs.

What’s Next

Employees and retirees who have not yet received letters confirming eligibility for all of their dependents will receive final disposition letters showing the status of their dependents. These letters will begin mailing on Tuesday, June 10, 2008. The letters will advise employee and retirees of the status of each of their dependents, and will provide direction on how employees and retirees can file claims if they do not agree with the status.


The Budco Service Center is currently closed to process documentation. At this time, no representatives are available to answer phone calls about the dependent verification process. Any new mail and faxes received by the Service Center will not be processed until Wednesday, June 11, 2008.

The Alcatel-Lucent Dependent Verification Help Line (Budco Service Center) will re-open on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Representatives will be available weekdays (Monday through Friday), from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time (ET) only, at 1-888-898-1115.
