Leaves & Disability
When you need extended time off from work to give birth to or adopt or foster a child, bond with your new child, recover from an illness or injury, care for an ailing family member, serve the military or attend to a personal issue, Nokia’s leave policies and disability benefits can provide you with peace of mind.
Eligibility
For information about your eligibility for:
- Leaves of Absence: Refer to the Nokia Employee Hub — United States (Nokia intranet) for the leave of absence guideline.
- Short-Term Disability (STD) and/or Long-Term Disability (LTD): Refer to the applicable Summary Plan Description (SPD). Note that Nokia provides disability coverage automatically and at no cost to you. Enrollment is not required.
Disability Plans
Nokia’s disability plans provide benefits if you are disabled and cannot work due to illness or injury, as follows:
- STD Plan: Provides benefits up to 26 weeks, beginning on the eighth calendar day of absence due to disability.
- You may receive up to the first 13 weeks of the STD benefit at 100 percent of base pay and the remaining 13 weeks at 70 percent of base pay, less benefits from another source (for example, state disability income; workers’ compensation; federal, state or locally mandated paid leave; or other Nokia Group-provided STD coverage).
- LTD Plan: Benefits may be available after you have received STD benefits for 26 weeks. The LTD Plan pays up to 60 percent of LTD-eligible base pay, less deductible sources of income.
How to Request a Leave of Absence, Including STD
If you need to take a leave of absence for a health-related or other reason, log on to the Your Benefits Resources™ (YBR) website at digital.alight.com/nokia and select “Leave of Absence” in the top banner or under Quick Actions on the left to be taken to the Leave landing page. Under Planning your leave, select the “Plan and manage your leave today” tile to get started.
