Using In-Network Providers

Enrolled in an Enhanced or Standard POS medical option?

Under Alcatel-Lucent’s Aetna and UnitedHealthcare Enhanced and Standard Point of Service (POS) medical options, you will pay less when you use in-network doctors and hospitals. If you use doctors and hospitals outside your carrier’s network, you will pay a higher share of the cost.

The medical carriers, Aetna and UnitedHealthcare, have thousands of doctors and hospitals in their networks. While the networks are robust, the carriers are selective about which providers they allow in their networks. They choose the doctors and hospitals based on their stringent service quality ratings and then negotiate rates to save you and Alcatel-Lucent money. If you are in the Aetna or UnitedHealthcare POS option, you can use your member Web site to find in-network providers.

Use the information below when you are looking for an in-network POS provider on the Aetna or UnitedHealthcare Web site and are prompted to select a plan (remember — you can also find in-network providers using the Your Benefits Resources [YBR] Web site):

  • Aetna: On www.aetna.com, choose “Aetna Choice POS II (Open Access)” under “Aetna Open Access Plans”
  • UnitedHealthcare: On www.myuhc.com, choose “UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus”

Enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan?

Under the UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage (PPO), you can go to any doctor, hospital or licensed medical professional that participates in Medicare. Unlike traditional PPO plans, you pay the same copayment or coinsurance whether you see a contracted (in-network) provider with UnitedHealthcare or a provider who is not contracted (out-of-network). However, there are advantages to using in-network providers. When you visit an in-network provider, it is guaranteed that he or she will accept your plan, and you will not need to file a claim form. It should be easy to find a provider in your area based on your needs using the provider directory available from UnitedHealthcare.
